Searching & Filtering in LeanIX

Jump to a Fact Sheet

Search bar available on every view (Dashboard, Inventory, Reporting) at the very top of the workspace, this function allows you to search for Fact Sheets based on their name.

To do this, type a Fact Sheet name inside the search bar and you will get suggestions to select from (Smart Search) or type in any text and retrieve a list of fact sheets containing typed text (Full Text Search). Selecting the Fact Sheet name will jump directly to the Fact Sheet.

Searching on Dashboard

Search bar available by default at the top on the Dashboard, this function allows you to search for Fact Sheets based on different criteria, including Name, Type, Hierarchy, Subscriptions, etc.

Selecting Fact Sheet criteria or name will give an overview of all the Fact Sheets that fall under selected category, in the Inventory.

Searching/Filtering in Inventory

In Inventory you can either use Jump to a Fact Sheet or filter by different criteria using the magnifying glass icon.

Smart Search and Full Text Search are both available when filtering.

Once a Fact Sheet type is selected (i.e. Applications), you can continue filtering only in the selected Fact Sheet type.

Additional filtering is possible using the left hand menu, where multiple criteria can be selected on each filter group.

Settings for the Fact Sheet filter groups can also be set in the left hand menu, giving you the possibility to show Fact Sheets that match at least one, all or none of the selected filters.

Copy Inventory Searches into Reports

If filters are created in the Inventory for a certain Fact Sheet type, a list of matching Reports is displayed in the right sidebar, under the Show in Report section. Selecting one of these Reports will open it with the same filters as selected in the Inventory.

Below is an animation of this functionality:

Which Search can be applied to which Report is determined by the base Fact Sheet type of a Report. As an example, a Search created for Applications or Business Capabilities can be used in the Application Landscape Report.

Below is the complete matrix of base Fact Sheet types based on which Reports are suggested for this functionality:

Note

This functionality is also available for configured & custom reports if the configuration of the Report contains a “factSheetType”: “{facsheettypename}” element.

🚧

Note

The Search created in the Inventory will overwrite all existing default filters of the Report.

Searching in Reports

In Reports, a Fact Sheet type is selected automatically depending on selected Report. Since a Fact Sheet type is already selected (i.e. Applications), you can continue filtering only in the selected Fact Sheet type.

Additional filtering is also available on the left hand menu, where multiple criteria can be selected on each filter group. Settings on filter groups can be set here as well. This lets you utilise reports such as the application portfolio report even better.
